Description

Being The Equinox, Volume V, Number 1 — this first UK edition (Routledge and Kegan Paul, London and Henley, 1975) was issued simultaneously with the Samuel Weiser edition in New York. It was the first new number of The Equinox since Crowley’s own publications and the first book to bear the Imprimatur of the A∴A∴ since Liber Aleph in 1962. A large octavo hardcover in red gilt cloth, with original cream dust jacket. The volume presents the text of Liber AL vel Legis (The Book of the Law) in boldface, with Crowley’s own commentaries (written in the 1920s, edited by Motta) in roman type, and Marcelo Motta’s extensive additional commentary in italic — the three voices of the tradition presented together for the first time. Also includes a facsimile of the handwritten original manuscript of Liber AL (66 pages), two full-colour illustrations of the Stele of Revealing, and a full index. Preface by James Wasserman. An essential and handsomely produced volume for any serious Crowley collection.
