The Pact… – Negative Plane, with Art by Ben Harff (Mount Abraxas, Bucharest, 2026) – Old Grave Fest Edition

The Pact… is Mount Abraxas’s companion volume to the 2022 album of the same name by the American black metal band Negative Plane. It brings together the band’s words with the extraordinary pen-and-ink artwork of Ben Harff, who also created the album’s cover art.

Harff’s illustrations are dense with cross-hatching in the manner of old woodcuts and engravings. They summon a nocturnal, medieval-flavoured world of hooded wanderers, lonely chapels, crossroads and setting suns, the perfect visual counterpart to Negative Plane’s dark, atmospheric and deeply Gothic music. The cover shows a cloaked figure with a staff, looking out from a rocky outcrop over a landscape of church, wayside cross and winding road.

The original 2022 hardcover was limited to just 105 copies and now commands high prices on the collector market. This new softcover was issued in October 2026 as a special edition for Old Grave Fest in Bucharest. It is strictly limited to 35 copies, each numbered by hand on the wrap-around band, and it is a genuinely rare piece for collectors of Mount Abraxas, Negative Plane or Ben Harff.
