Description
The Book of Flesh and Feather is the central liturgical and ritual book of a devoted circle of initiates of the Great God Djehuty, the ibis-headed Thoth of ancient Egypt. Its scribe, Zemaemidjehuty, is a poet-priest and theurgist, and the founder of the Church of Flesh and Feather. His work explores the mysterious Coptic Christ and Sophia alongside Kemetic Djehuty, as divine aspects of a single Supreme Deity.
It is a grand theurgical work, made up of ritual instructions, exorcisms, spells, amulets and hymns that invoke the Great God and exalt his ba. The ritual cycle first brings about a necessary state of Chaos, then slowly draws the theurgist up into the Light of Djehuty’s Gnosis. It ends with an elaborate initiatory ceremony through which the operator becomes the Word of God and goes forth as an emanation of the Deity.
The book is grounded in deep knowledge of Coptic, Egyptian and Greek sources and distils years of dedicated practice. It is a magical book, not a book about magic. To match the text, it is printed in a large format in black and red and illustrated throughout by the author.
