“The Perfect Way” was co-authored by Anna Bonus Kingsford (1846-1888) and Edward Maitland, representing an esoteric interpretation of Christian teachings  . Anna Kingsford was a prominent English Theosophist in the 1880s, one of the first women to become a physician in England, and was known as a mystic, poet, feminist, and anti-vivisectionist. The book was originally presented as a series of nine lectures in London during May, June, and July 1881, and was first published in 1882. This work is considered one of the most influential books written by early Theosophists.
