A special edition of the first volume in Wilmar Taal’s Gnome Trilogy, published by Troy Books in 2019. In 2003, while cataloguing the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic’s Dutch ‘Richel-Eldermans collection’, a student deciphering its papers uncovered a remarkable handwritten manuscript on Dutch gnome-folklore — the work of the same enigmatic collector, J.H.W. Eldermans, whose life is chronicled in Taal’s The Silent Listener. This first part presents an annotated translation of Eldermans’s manuscript focused on the origins of gnomes, their habits and their culture, profusely illustrated throughout with the original drawings and handwriting. The second volume, The Gnome Grimoire, turns to gnome magic; the third, The Gnome Compendium, gathers Eldermans’s remaining writings. Bound in brown cloth with designs and titling foiled in gold. Special edition, limited to 100 numbered copies  with a signed bookplate tipped onto the front endpaper.
