Description
Investigating the mysterious disappearance of his sister Anna, Charles Lydford, a convalescent veteran of the Great War, travels to Monte Verità, a utopian commune in the Swiss mountains. Once famous for its artists, mystics and anarchists, the community has fallen into decline and seems haunted by the spectre of tragedy, its few remaining residents secretive and withdrawn. That Anna had worked closely with the renowned dancer Mary Wigman, and that she vanished in the mountains upon midsummer’s eve, 1917 are all they seem willing to reveal. Here in the shadowed hills, assailed by visions and haunted by his past, Charles must seek an answer to the mystery of Anna’s fate, and confront the ultimate truth within himself – Abraxas.
